On Tuesday, President Buhari nominated Abdulrasheed Bawa as the chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and had asked Senate to approve the nomination.
This was revealed in a statement read by the President’s spokesperson, Mr. Femi Adesina. “President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the Senate to confirm Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa as substantive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).”
However, the nominated EFCC chairman was reported to be in some corruption scandal. He illegally sold some trucks in 2019. He sold the trucks that worth millions of naira at trivial prices.
It was also reported that the then EFCC secretary, Ola Olukoyede, confronted Abdulrasheed Bawa regarding the lost trucks but he was unable to disclose where the trucks were.
It is pathetic that those who are saddled with the responsibility of fighting corruption are also the ones who are aiding and abetting corruption in Nigeria.
