Senate Petition For State of Emergency

The Senate had asked President Buhari to declare state of emergency because of the security issues happening in Nigeria.
The petition was made after Senator Sani Musa representing Niger East, made the motion.

This motion was made after the unfortunate event that happened at the Government Science Secondary School in Kagara, Niger State, which occurred early on Wednesday.
Senator Musa further urged the President to answer Senates’ plea and also appealed to the Army and Police Force to make concerted effort to sabotage criminal hideouts in the country.

Another Senator from Niger State, Senator Bima Enagi condemned the administration of Buhari based on different insurgencies in Nigeria. According to Senator Enagi, he said that “We need to amend the constitution so that governors should be chief security officers of their states since the government at the centre has failed to protect the lives and property of Nigerians. The Federal Government is busy giving palliatives instead of creating employment, thus aggravating insecurity.”

Also, the Senate President regarded today’s incident as an unfortunate event and that the security personnel has financial challenges.
